Karachi/London: Senior journalist and Dawn News reporter Khawar Hussain from Karachi was found dead in his car outside a private hotel on Hyderabad Road in Sanghar.
Police say that Khawar Hussain has a bullet wound to the head, while a pistol and a mobile phone have also been recovered from the scene, which have been sent for forensics. Police say it is too early to say whether the pistol is licensed or not. According to SSP Sanghar Abid Baloch, the investigation into the incident is ongoing from all angles.
Dr. Akhtar Gulfam, President of the British Pakistan Editors Council, Khadim Hussain Nasir of the London Media Club, Taalat Gondal, President of the Central Pakistan Press Club UK/Europe, Karachi Union of Journalists, and Dastur also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Khawar Hussain, calling it an attack on freedom of the press.
Khawar Hussain had been associated with several private channels and was known in journalistic circles as a responsible, serious and patriotic journalist.
