Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday granted a five-day physical remand of Sher Shah Khan, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding chairman Imran Khan and son of Aleema Khan, in a May 9, 2023, case.

Lahore Police took Sher Shah Khan into custody on Friday.

He was produced before Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore today.

The accused’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, argued in the court that the police were targeting the family of Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, for revenge. ‘Two days ago, Shah Rez was arrested from his house and nominated in the May 9 case after 27 months. Now his younger brother, Sher Shah, has been implicated in a false case.

The lawyer further said that ‘Alima Khan has also been proven innocent in the Jinnah House attack case, so the accused should also be discharged from this case.’

Police investigation officer Asif Javed presented the video before the court and took the position that the accused was involved in the Jinnah House attack on May 9, 2023, and that he and his cousin Hassan Niazi were inciting the angry protesters to burn houses.

Judge Manzar Ali Gul, while ordering the removal of media representatives from the courtroom before the hearing on the remand application, said that ‘no media representative will be in the courtroom.’ After which, the security personnel removed all the media representatives from the courtroom.
