Sahiwal: The Board of Directors meeting of Sahiwal Waste Management Company was held at the Commissioner’s Office. It was chaired by Commissioner Sahiwal Dr. Asif Tufail. CEO Iftikhar Ali, CFO Javed Iqbal, General Manager Monitoring Muhammad Aftab, Senior Manager Monitoring Rizwan Ahmed Marth, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed, SE Public Health Ashiq Ali Javed and independent members Pir Ehsanul Haq Idrees, Mrs. Shad Masood and Asad Khalid also attended the meeting. CEO Iftikhar Ali said that the process of recruiting 140 field monitors to monitor the sanitation work at the Union Council level is underway, which will be completed in two weeks, and they will be assigned responsibilities. Commissioner Sahiwal, Dr. Asif Tufail, directed that close contact should be maintained with the Deputy Commissioners of the three districts so that the problems faced in the field can be resolved immediately. In the meeting, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail, while postponing the approval of the review of the agreements signed with private contractors for better service delivery, directed that the input of the concerned Deputy Commissioners should also be obtained so that better agreements could be made. He said that the government is spending Rs. 10 billion annually on cleanliness in Sahiwal Division; therefore, negligence in providing a clean environment to the citizens cannot be tolerated. In the meeting, the board members were directed to expedite the process of appointment of the Chief Financial Officer and also approved a two-month extension to give this charge temporarily to Company Secretary Javed Iqbal.
