Islamabad: The fourth ceremony of “Mehkan Literary Award 2025” organized by “Mehkan Punjabi Literary Board” was held at Writers House, Pakistan Academy of Letters. The ceremony was presided over by renowned poet and critic Safdar Hussain Wamiq, while renowned storyteller Malik Mehr Ali attended as a special guest.
The guests of honor were Professor of Surgery, short story writer Dr. Nader Mahmood and renowned fiction writer Ali Akbar Natiq. Punjabi poet Mahmood Amjad Harl performed the duties of stage secretary. The event awarded prizes to writers for their books published in the year 2025.
The recipients of the “Mehkan” Literary Award included Dr. Arshad Mahmood Nashad, Jafar Anjum Jatiana, Amjad Butt, Saleem Sarwar, Muhammad Asif Mirza, Shahid Saleem and Rehmat Aziz Chitrali, who were awarded for their books. Renowned poet Imran Nawaz Gondal was awarded the “Punjabi Sevak Award” for his outstanding services to Punjabi literature.
President of the event, Safdar Hussain Wamiq, said that the “Mehkan Punjabi Literary Board” is performing exemplary services in imparting literary consciousness to the young generation and promoting language and culture.
Special guest Malik Mehr Ali said that these literary activities of the “Mehkan Punjabi Literary Board” are providing new energy to our language, literature and creative tradition.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Mushtaq Adil thanked all the guests, presented the performance of the Mehak Punjabi Literary Board and presented commemorative shields to the guests. Writers from Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Murree, Islamabad and the northern areas participated in this program. It should be noted that earlier, award ceremonies for books published in the year 2025 under the Mehak Punjabi Literary Board have been held in Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Lahore.
