UK: 7 members of ‘grooming gang’ jailed for 35 years for enslaving 2 girls

Rochdale: The court has sentenced Mohammed Zahid, the main character of the grooming gang in the Rochdale area of ​​the UK, to 35 years in prison.

According to the court decision, 6 other members of the gang have also been given long prison sentences.

During the trial, it was reported that Mohammed Zahid, known as the “bossman”, targeted and sexually abused young girls as young as 13. The affected girls were controlled by getting them addicted to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes, while the gang kept them in its grip by providing them with accommodation and other facilities.

The court sentenced the perpetrator to a severe sentence, describing it as a crime against human dignity and morality.

The longest sentence of 35 years was given to 65-year-old Mohammed Zahid, a father of three, who set up a stall in the market and offered free underwear, money and food to the victims in exchange for regular sex.

The Manchester resident was found guilty of 20 offences, including rape, indecency with a child and attempting to obtain unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl.

Traders Mushtaq Ahmed, 67, and Kassir Bashir, 50, who also worked at the Rochdale market, were sentenced to 27 and 29 years in prison, respectively.

Both from Oldham were convicted of offences including rape and indecency with a child.

Bashir, who absconded before the trial began, was sentenced in absentia
