London: 86-year-old Haji Muhammad Ramadan, a member of the Wise Agers community group, has surprised everyone. He has grown what may be the largest bottle gourd in Waltham Forest — and possibly the largest in the whole of the UK!
The giant vegetable, which weighed about 7.5 kg, was proudly presented by Haji Sahib at the Wise Agers’ weekly gathering. All the members of the group were amazed by its size and praised his gardening skills.
“I didn’t expect it either, it was hidden on the roof of the shed and only appeared at the end of the season!”
Initially, he intended to donate the pumpkin to a local soup kitchen, but at the insistence of his friends in the group, he cut the pumpkin into several pieces and distributed it among all Wise Agers members so that everyone could share in its taste and joy, and also save a few seeds so that they too could grow them next year.
Thus, Haji Muhammad Ramadan’s extraordinary pumpkin went from the roof of his garden to the hearts of the Wise Agers community — becoming a beautiful symbol of joy, wonder, and friendship.
