Sahiwal: There will be no compromise on the material for the sewer line in Sabir Town at a cost of millions of rupees. The Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal, along with the MD WASA, visited the ongoing sewerage project under WASA for a detailed review. On this occasion, Managing Director WASA Tanveer Qaiser briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the progress of the project and said that regular work has been started on the installation of the sewer line and water disposal system, which will be completed within the next two to two and a half months. The completion of the project will significantly reduce the sewerage problems faced by Sabir Town for years. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the project; however, he directed the concerned officers to ensure the quality completion of the work and its completion within the stipulated time frame. He said that the Punjab government’s priorities include public relief and provision of civic amenities, and timely completion of development projects is the top priority of the district administration. He added that this project has been launched to address the long-standing complaints and problems of poor drainage in Sabir Town, which will prove to be a big relief for hundreds of residents of the area. It should be noted that Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood, while taking notice of public complaints, had directed WASA to improve the water disposal and sewage system in the area on an emergency basis, after which immediate work on the project was started.
