Sahiwal: The Punjab government has a big plan to provide basic educational facilities in government schools. Additional classrooms will be constructed, rooms will be renovated, and other facilities will be provided in the Sahiwal Division at a cost of more than Rs 3 billion. Addressing a meeting to review the implementation of the project at the Commissioner’s Office, chaired by Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr. Asif Tufail, he said that the Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive program to increase educational facilities in government schools. He said that the quality of education will improve only with the availability of a better environment for students. He directed that instead of constructing additional rooms in the first phase, the existing classrooms should be renovated, and quality work should be ensured during the construction and renovation of the rooms. He said that all development work in schools will be done by school councils, so they should spend the funds honestly, considering them as the trust of the nation. During the briefing, the meeting was informed that 1156 additional rooms will be constructed in 686 schools in the Sahiwal division with a budget of Rs 1.36 billion, 82 million. Similarly, basic educational facilities will be provided in 1951 schools with a budget of Rs 1.23 billion 74 million, while the renovation of 1107 rooms in 514 schools with a budget of Rs 447 million is also part of the project.
