Sahiwal: Sahiwal Press Club presidential candidate Mian Umar Manzoor has said that all available resources will be utilized for the welfare of journalists and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He stated that establishing a journalist colony, ensuring the safety of journalists, and allocating special funds for the health and education of their children are among his top priorities.
Mian Umar Manzoor stated that his entire panel has entered the fray with the Markhor election symbol, and he has the full support of senior members of the Press Club. He made it clear that he will not justify the lack of funds but will try to solve the problems of journalists through his personal capabilities and available resources.
He said that the Democratic Alliance has presented a formal and written manifesto for the 2025-26 elections, which includes points such as making the Press Club a prestigious, independent and strong institution, establishing an endowment fund for financial assistance to journalists, construction of a mosque in the Press Club, workshops for training journalists, annual audit, linkages with government and semi-government institutions and establishment of a journalist colony in Sahiwal. Mian Umar Manzoor said that for the first time in the history of the Sahiwal Press Club, such a manifesto has been presented which is not just based on promises but on practical commitment. Finally, he thanked Chaudhry Rashid Akmal, Haji Iqbal, Haji Ismail, Shafqat Gilani, Iftikhar Khan, Hafiz Waheed, Rana Waheed, Malik Asif, Sheikh Naeem, Rizwan Tahir, Shafqat Javed, Meher Abbas, Sardar Iqbal, Malik Asif Nawaz, Chaudhry Usman and other senior journalists for their support and said that he would make every effort to meet their expectations.
