Islamabad: Pakistan has approved dual citizenship for its citizens living in Germany, after which overseas Pakistanis living in Germany are no longer obliged to surrender their Pakistani citizenship in case of acquiring German citizenship.
The decision will provide relief to thousands of Pakistanis who have been living in Germany for a long time and were facing an uncertain situation regarding citizenship.
According to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, this development has come as a result of the expansion of the national policy on dual citizenship under the Pakistan Citizenship Act 1951.
