London: A man has been arrested for breaching security at Kensington Palace, the residence of British Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. The incident occurred when the royal couple was away on Christmas holidays.
The suspect, Derek Egan, had entered the grounds of Kensington Palace twice. Police have charged him with breaching security and obstructing court proceedings. Egan is also refusing to appear during the hearing and is still in police custody.
District Judge Sam Gozzi has moved forward with the case, while the Crown Prosecution Service says the case is being viewed seriously in the context of the safety of the royal family and national security. The Attorney General’s consent is mandatory for prosecution, but security risks will be considered first.
