Karachi: Police have arrested Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi’s acting Ameer, Muslim Pervez, Sindh Assembly Member Muhammad Farooq, and other leaders.
Jamaat-e-Islami had announced a public press conference outside the Election Commission of Sindh office regarding the February 8 general elections.
The tent set up by the police for the press conference was also torn down. As soon as the Jamaat-e-Islami leaders started the press conference, the police stopped them.
According to the Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson, the leaders were arrested during the press conference, and the police also closed all shops and hotels outside the Election Commission office.
According to the spokesperson, those arrested include Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi’s acting Ameer, Muslim Pervez, Sindh Assembly Member Muhammad Farooq, district chiefs Sufyan Dilawar, Mudassar Hussain Ansari and other responsible persons.
