In a big city like Lahore, groups of beggars take advantage of people’s sympathy not only through signals but also in various ways. Sometimes, disabled children are used, sometimes women and the elderly are pushed forward, and sometimes, beggars are made up by fabricating fake stories.
According to the police, the daily income of beggars in Lahore can be more than Rs 1.5 crore, which has given them the appearance of an organized mafia. This mafia is divided into areas; each area has its own contractor who receives a share of the alms.
