London: Modi’s claim to declare his country India as an economic power has been proven false, India has come to 105th place out of 127 countries in terms of ‘hunger’ in the World Hunger Index ranking.
According to the report released by the World Hunger Index for the year 2024, if the richest 1% of India is removed, the condition of the people is worse than that of the most backward countries in Africa.
40% of India’s total wealth is held by just one percent of the richest.
The middle and lower-middle-class people have only 3% of the wealth, and about 700 million Indian citizens are facing malnutrition.
According to the World Hunger Index report, 90 percent of India’s labor force earns less than the prescribed wage.
Due to the Modi government’s poor policies, more than 27 percent of the population is forced to live below the poverty line.
It should be remembered that India is witnessing an increase in suicides by citizens troubled by poverty and debt.
The Modi government has also started a helpline to prevent the increase in mental stress of the people, however, incidents of farmers troubled by debt in rural areas and people in cities also ending their lives are reported every day.
Last week, 7 members of a family living in Haryana ended their lives by consuming poison in their car. This incident of mass suicide put a question mark on the Modi government’s claims of economic development.
