London: There is good news for overseas that the period of permanent residence in the UK has been extended.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced wide-ranging reforms to the immigration system, under which the social care worker visa has been closed, and new recruitment from abroad has been banned.
However, the bad news is that the period of stay for permanent residence in the UK has been increased from 5 to 10 years, on the other hand, the level of education for the skilled worker visa has been increased, the period of post-study work visa has been reduced, and the standard of English language proficiency has been increased.
Skilled worker visas will now require at least graduate-level education, the duration of post-study work visas has been reduced from 2 years to 18 months, while the English language proficiency standard has been increased from B1 to B2.
