Lahore:Punjab Lok Raj Party (PLRP) has strongly condemned recent attacks targeting members of the Punjabi community. In Rawalpindi’s Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town on May 8, 2026, a mob abducted 21-year-old Zain Shah during a minor dispute; police report that Shah was dragged with a rope around his neck, brutally tortured, and lynched after a young man named Siraj Mehsud had been killed in an unrelated shooting. Similarly, in Sindh’s Mirpurkhas district on December 25, 2025, Advocate Chaudhry Shehzad was shot dead amid a land dispute. These incidents have sown terror and outrage among Punjabis nationwide, and PLRP leaders have denounced them in the strongest terms.
PLRP Chairman Eng. Ilyas Ghumman emphasized that such lawlessness cannot go unpunished. He warned that “delay in justice undermines the credibility of state institutions. Immediate arrest of the real culprits is imperative to restore public confidence across Pakistan, including the Punjabi community.” General Secretary Eng. Ejaz Ahmad Zia added that these murders have shaken Punjabis and all citizens. “This tragic incident has caused widespread anxiety,” he said, stressing that “equal protection under the law remains the cornerstone of national unity.”
The Punjab Lok Raj Party reiterates its unwavering commitment to justice, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence. The party demanded swift and decisive action by authorities to protect all citizens. Citing national unity, it noted that justice in these cases is “neither a provincial nor an ethnic demand, but a national responsibility.” PLRP has called on government agencies to bring the perpetrators to book and warned that it will not tolerate any vigilantism or misinformation that inflames tensions in society.
