London: The air clash between Chinese-made Pakistani jets and French-made Indian Rafale fighter jets will be closely examined and through it the forces will try to obtain information that could provide an edge in future conflicts.
According to a report by the British news agency ‘Reuters’, two US officials have said that a Chinese-made Pakistani fighter jet shot down at least two Indian aircraft on Wednesday, which indicates a possible major success for Beijing’s modern fighter jet.
The air showdown is a rare opportunity for militaries to study the performance of pilots, fighter jets and air-to-air missiles, and use the information to prepare their air forces for war.
Experts said the direct use of the advanced weapons would be analyzed around the world, including by China and the United States, both of which are preparing for a potential conflict over Taiwan or the wider Indo-Pacific region.
A U.S. official told Reuters on condition of anonymity that it was “highly certain” that Pakistan used a Chinese-made G-10 aircraft to fire air-to-air missiles against Indian fighter jets.
Social media posts have focused on the performance of China’s PL-15 air-to-air missile compared to the radar-guided Meteor air-to-air missile developed by European group MBDA, but there has been no official confirmation of the weapons being used.
