A look at Harappa in a report by Dawn TV UK

Sahiwal: Harappa is a city of historical grandeur, tehsil status is the need of the hour.
According to Imran Fazal Khokhar, Harappa, which has been the center of one of the oldest civilizations in the world, the “Indus Valley Civilization”, is still a source of interest for historians, archaeologists and tourists from all over the world. Located in the Sahiwal district of Pakistan, this city is not only part of our national heritage but is also recognized as a historical symbol at the global level. It is a matter of concern that a city with such a great past and unique cultural status is still deprived of basic facilities. Despite the development work worth crores of rupees in Harappa, piles of garbage and boiling sewers are beyond comprehension. Despite spending so much money, the city of Harappa and its streets also look like a part of the ancient monuments.
The history, museums, and excavated monuments of Harappa are also a treasure trove in terms of tourism. If the infrastructure is improved here, facilities are provided for tourists and it is strengthened administratively, this city can become a center of attraction for tourists not only at the national but also international level. Tehsil status will be the first and most important step in this regard.
The people of Harappa have been demanding for the past several years that their city be given a place according to its historical status. Naveed Aslam Lodhi has established a positive political tradition by bringing the public voice to the assembly. Now it is the responsibility of the Punjab government and the relevant institutions to fulfill the long-standing demand of the people by implementing this resolution. Harappa is a historical heritage that is not only our identity but also the cultural wealth of Pakistan. It must be strengthened administratively to maintain its development, protection and identity. The status of tehsil will not only be a source of welfare for the people but will also further strengthen the cultural identity of Pakistan at the global level. We hope that the government will implement this resolution and usher this bright chapter of history into a new era.
