London: Pakistan’s Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs/Pradhan Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora attended the event held in the British Parliament to mark the 20th anniversary of All Parties Parliamentary Group (APPG) for British Sikhs as a special international guest.
During the event, the “UK Gurdwara Alliance” was also formally inaugurated, a historic organization representing more than 200 Gurdwaras across the UK. This alliance aimed to promote effective communication and religious harmony between government institutions and the local Sikh community.
In his address, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora congratulated the APPG and the UK Gurdwara Alliance and highlighted the situation of religious freedom for minorities in Pakistan. He referred to the historical speech of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 11, 1947, and said that today religious minorities in Pakistan are completely free as the Quaid-e-Azam had said:
“You are free, you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to mosques or any other place of worship.”
The ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders including Chairman APPG Jas Athawale MP, former Chairman Preet Kaur Gill MP, Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi MP, Lord Wajid Khan, Lord Watson of Wyre Forest, President Gurdwara Samituk Bhai Jitendra Singh, President Central Gurdwara London Bhai Gurpreet Singh Anand, and Sikh Federation leader Dabinder Jit Singh OBE.
