If timely measures are not taken, there may be a severe shortage of flour and further inflation in the coming months, warns

Lahore: Flour mill owners have said that the Punjab government itself is responsible for the artificial wheat crisis. The Punjab government’s ban on inter-provincial movement of wheat and flour has created an artificial crisis across the country, which has increased the fear of flour shortage and price hike.
The owners have accused the Punjab government of creating an artificial crisis by banning the inter-provincial movement of wheat and related products under Section 144.
The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) South Zone has taken the stand that such restrictions are against the wheat deregulation policy and are a violation of Article 151 of the Constitution, which allows free movement of goods between provinces.
The association warned that such obstacles at the provincial level ultimately create a crisis throughout the country.
