London: Thousands demonstrate in support of the banned Palestine Action Group and Palestine, over 425 arrested

Heavy clashes between police and protesters as protesters try to prevent arrests

London: Thousands of people protested in London and rallied at Parliament Square to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The protesters shouted slogans against Israel and demanded that the British government stop selling weapons to Israel and immediately declare a ceasefire in Gaza.

Hundreds of people protested in front of the British Parliament in support of Palestine Action. Some protesters held placards that read, “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”

The capital’s Metropolitan Police had already warned that they would not hesitate to arrest anyone who openly supports the banned group.

Police said in a statement on Saturday night that they had “arrested more than 425 people in connection with the protests. Most of them were for supporting a banned organisation.”

Police detained several protesters, including activists from the Palestine Action organisation. Britain banned the organisation under counter-terrorism laws two months ago.

After the pro-Palestinian campaign group ‘Palestine Action’ was declared a terrorist organisation in June 2025, supporting it was also made a crime.

Under the UK’s Counter-Terrorism Act 2000, membership or support of the organisation can be punished by up to 14 years in prison after that decision.
