London: US President Donald Trump has said that he is trying to take back Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

At a press conference in London on Thursday along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the US President said that ‘we are trying to take it back.’

After US forces left Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban administration took control of Bagram Air Base.

The US President and the British Prime Minister said in a joint press conference that they are working to end the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, Putin has disappointed a lot, the issue of Israel and Gaza is complicated but will be resolved.

During a news conference with US President Donald Trump at his residence (Chequers) in Buckinghamshire, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that together we are working to end the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East to get aid there, to release the hostages and ultimately to bring Israel and the region back to a comprehensive plan that will bring peace and security to both Israelis and Palestinians.
President Trump said that “this is somewhat breaking news. We are trying to take back the air base because they need some things from the United States. We want control of that base back.”
After landing troops in Afghanistan decades ago, the United States established a large air base in the Bagram area from which air operations were carried out throughout Afghanistan.
This airport was also used by US forces to maintain their influence in the region.
Referring to the tenure of President Biden, he said that at that time there was a devastating situation in Afghanistan for no reason. “We had to leave Afghanistan, but we had to leave with honor and with a show of strength. We had to keep Bagram Air Base.”

Describing Bagram Air Base as the world’s largest military airfield, President Trump said, “We gave it to them for free. Well, we’re going to take it back. That would be breaking news to some extent.”

According to the US President, the Taliban administration wants certain things from his country in return for which they are trying to take back control of Bagram Air Base from them.

He said, “We want to take back this airbase and one of the reasons for that, as you know, is that China is only an hour away from there, where they are building their nuclear weapons.”
