London: Police are treating a fire that caused extensive damage to a mosque in the southeastern British county of East Sussex as a suspected arson and hate crime. Investigators have released images of two men whose identities are being sought.

A fire that broke out at a mosque in Peacehaven shortly before 10 pm local time on Saturday damaged the front door of the building and a car parked outside. Sussex Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

Police said the footage showed two men wearing masks and black clothing walking towards the front door, then spraying flammable liquid on the entrance to the mosque and setting it on fire.

Photos circulating online showed a burned-out vehicle at the entrance to the building.
