ISLAMABAD: The Privatization Commission board has taken important decisions regarding the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) and the management of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi International Airports.
A meeting chaired by the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Privatization approved the inclusion of AKD Holdings Private Limited in the consortium at the request of a consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation Limited (AHCL).
According to a press release, the inclusion has complied with the conditions set out in the Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The AHCL consortium is one of the 4 pre-qualified bidders participating in the ongoing privatization process of PIACL.
The Board also recommended to the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCOP) that Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi airports be included in the privatization program, under which the management of the airports will be offered on a long-term concession basis, to improve operational efficiency and encourage investment.
For the privatization of House Building Finance Company Limited (HBFCL), the Board approved the reference price and finalized the terms of the sale-purchase agreement for submission to the CCOP.
The transaction of HBFCL is being executed through a negotiated sale to Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company Limited (PMRCL), which is the pre-qualified bidder.
