Washington: According to new instructions from US President Donald Trump, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity may be denied US visas.
The US State Department has instructed embassies and consulates to assess the health of visa applicants and see if they will not become a financial burden on the US government.
The new policy includes people with heart diseases, respiratory diseases, cancer, diabetes, metabolic and neurological diseases, and mental health problems. The applicant’s ability to bear the costs of treatment will also be checked.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not confirm whether this policy is currently in effect or is still in the approval process.
