London: Ban on admissions of Pakistani students in the UK; Indication of closing educational visas
Admissions of Bangladeshi students have also been stopped.
Admissions have been banned due to the increasing number of political asylum applications.
9 major universities in the UK have temporarily suspended the admission of new students from Pakistan and Bangladesh, the reason for which has also been revealed.
British authorities say that several students should have applied for political asylum immediately after coming on educational visas and paved the way for permanent residence.
Due to this, the British government has placed Pakistan and Bangladesh in the high-risk category and has stopped issuing educational visas or decided to further tighten the conditions.
In this regard, British universities have been ordered to admit only those students whose sole purpose is to pursue education after strict scrutiny.
Universities have also been instructed not to admit students who misuse the nuances of the visa system or various exemptions.
This is why about 20% of visa applications from Pakistani students are now being rejected.
Britain’s Border Security Minister Dame Angela Eagle made it clear that attempts to obtain permanent residence in the UK in the name of education will not be tolerated.
She added that the government wants universities to tighten admission procedures to discourage those who enroll for the wrong purposes.
