Islamabad: At the beginning of the next fiscal year 2025-26, the public will bear the highest burden in the country’s history in terms of petroleum levy from July 1. According to a report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the collection of petroleum levy for the new fiscal year has been estimated at Rs 1,311 billion, which is Rs 194 billion more than the current fiscal year ending on June 30.
Even now, the public is under the ever-increasing burden of petroleum levy, and in such a situation, citizens may be forced to bear the highest burden in the country’s history in the next fiscal year.
According to the IMF report, there is a possibility of an increase of Rs 194 billion in petroleum levy collection for the next fiscal year 2025-26 compared to the current fiscal year 2024-25.
The estimated collection of petroleum levy for the current fiscal year is Rs 1,117 billion, and the estimated collection of petroleum levy for the next fiscal year is Rs 1,311 billion.
During the first 9 months of the current fiscal year, from July 2024 to March 2025, the collection of petroleum levy was Rs 833 billion 847 million.
According to the IMF report, the collection of petroleum levy in the last fiscal year 2023-24 was Rs 1,019 billion and the collection of petroleum levy in the fiscal year 2022-23 was Rs 580 billion.
