Another proof of the poor performance of the Punjab government, government hospitals will now be run on contract

Daily Dawn Medical Reporter + Dawn TV

Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced the Punjab Specialized Institutions Act 2025 to run government teaching hospitals through an autonomous board, meaning that now government hospitals will be run on contract.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government implemented the Punjab Medical Teaching Institutions Act (MTI) on the same lines in May 2020, which was strongly protested by doctors across the province, and then the government had to stop the implementation of this law.
Now the government of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to introduce the same law of reforms in the health department with a new name.
