Islamabad: The Punjab government has sought time from the Supreme Court to present evidence on the acquittal appeal of former federal minister Sheikh Rashid in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.

Justice Hashim Khan reprimanded the special prosecutor and said that if you want to ask for an adjournment, then do not come to the court next time. What evidence is there against Sheikh Rasheed? Fear God, Sheikh Rasheed has been an MNA 5 times, he is a senior man, where will he run away?

Justice Hashim Khan said that this court will decide only according to the law, whether the earth falls or the sky splits, nothing will be done outside the law in the court.

A 3-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Khan Kakar heard the case.

During the hearing, on the request for adjournment by the special prosecutor, Justice Hashim Kakar said that an adjournment would be granted only on the death of the judge, lawyer or accused.

The special prosecutor said that some of the accused wanted to present their confessional statements.

Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer said that the confessional statements they are referring to are part of the file, the government itself asks for time and blames the courts and the accused.

Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer requested that the hearing be scheduled this week.

Justice Hashim Khan Kakar said that the case will be filed next week, don’t worry about it.
