Sahiwal/Chicha Watani: School joining or wedding ceremony? Unnecessary spectacle on joining of headmaster, question mark on education system
According to Shaukat Jota, the joining of the new senior headmaster, Malik Ali Nawaz Khan Awan, at Government High School 13/14-L was celebrated as if it were a royal wedding or a political rally. The discharge of a simple official duty was not only made frivolous through extraordinary protocol, reception ceremonies and exhibition activities, but also the education of the children was given secondary status. The occasion of this joining saw special arrangements for guests, interference in school hours and suspension of the teaching process.
Residents and parents of the area have demanded that the CEO of Education, Sahiwal, take immediate notice of this incident and take action against those responsible for this act so that educational institutions can be prevented from becoming a venue for exhibitionist events.
