Sahiwal: On the occasion of the historic victory of the Pakistan Army over the enemy, Thanksgiving Day was celebrated with religious fervor in Sahiwal, like the rest of the country. After Fajr prayers, Quran recitation was held in mosques and special prayers were offered for the martyrs of Operation Baniyan-e-Marsoos and the security and development of the homeland. Other events were also organized in Sahiwal to express solidarity with the Pakistani Armed Forces. The biggest event was the main flag-hoisting ceremony at the Sahiwal Arts Council. Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed, RPO Mehboob Rashid, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood DPO Rana Tahir Rehman and CEO of Corporation Sheikh Ashfaq hoisted the flag. A police contingent saluted the national flag. After this a special Thanksgiving Day ceremony was organized at Jinnah Hall. The ceremony was attended by a large number of civil society, lawyers, teachers, students, journalists and ordinary citizens. Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed said that the Pakistan Army has raised the head of the entire nation with pride. He said that the entire nation stands by the Pakistani army and those who look at Pakistan with a malicious eye will be given a befitting reply in the future as well. He further said that no sacrifice would be spared for the protection of Pakistan. RPO Mehboob Rasheed said that the sacrifices of the martyrs are a beacon for us and the entire nation stands with them. He said that the entire world has recognized the bravery and courage of the Pakistan Army. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood said that the entire nation is celebrating Thanksgiving Day today for the successful Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos of the Pakistani army and Thanksgiving Day is a symbol of our national unity against the enemy, the courage of the Pakistani army and the solidarity of the people. He further said that the Pakistan Army had given a befitting reply to the enemy by entering their house. Later, a rally was taken out from Sahiwal Arts Council to DC Office Chowk under the leadership of Commissioner Sahiwal Shoaib Iqbal Syed, DPO Rana Tahir Rehman, President Bar Association Malik Saeed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Sheikh Ijaz Raza and others. The participants of the rally raised slogans of Pakistan Zindabad Pak Fauj Payenda Bad and reiterated their resolve to walk shoulder to shoulder with their homeland and their armed forces. A rally was taken out from the Arts Council to DC Office Chowk.
