Lahore: According to Dawn and Nawa-e-Waqt sources, there is a strong possibility that the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team will be withdrawn from ODI captain Muhammad Rizwan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will take a final decision on the change of captaincy in the next few days and Salman Ali Agha is a strong candidate for the ODI cricket captaincy. New head coach Mike Hesson has started the consultation process to select the captain and vice-captain and the decision will be made in conjunction with the new coaching staff.

All-rounder Salman Ali Agha is considered a strong candidate for the ODI captaincy, he has also captained the T20 team before.

It should be noted that Muhammad Rizwan was given the captaincy of both ODI and T20 formats in October 2024, but after Pakistan’s poor performance in the Champions Trophy 2025, the T20 captaincy was taken away from him and given to Salman Ali Agha.
