Lahore: An MoU ceremony between the Sports Board Punjab and Health Services Academy Islamabad for modern training of players, coaches, and sports officials was held at Punjab Stadium. Provincial Minister for Sports, Faisal Ayub Khokhar, was the special guest of the ceremony, and Secretary for Sports, Punjab Muhammad Ali, was also present on this occasion. The MoU between the Sports Board Punjab and Health Services Academy was signed by Director Admin Abid Shaukat and Dean of Health Services Academy Dr. Ijaz Asghar, while Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Ali and Vice Chancellor Health Services Academy Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan exchanged documents after the signing.
Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, while addressing the ceremony, said that the MoU will prove to be a milestone in improving the fitness and performance of the players. Training by experts from the Health Services Academy in Islamabad will eliminate fitness-related problems, and coaches will be provided with world-class training. Under the MoU, it has been decided to establish a sports school in Punjab, while the Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab of the Sports Board Punjab will be used to establish a sports school and research center. For the first time, regular work on sports research is being started, which will improve the performance of the players on a scientific basis. Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has further said that a comprehensive program will be prepared to enhance the capabilities of the coaching staff, including tehsil, district, and divisional sports officers. PE teachers will be trained for the effective implementation of one hour of physical activity daily in government schools, and practical steps will be taken in this regard in collaboration with the School Education Department. The Sports Board Punjab will provide land, infrastructure, and will provide logistical support, while access to athletes, coaches, data and sports venues will be given for research activities. Under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the grounds are being developed, and talent hunt and talent development programs will be made more effective.
Former Provincial Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram, Additional Secretary Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Dr. Muhammad Iftikhar Awan, Dr. Moazzam Tanveer, Dr. Safdar Baloch, and officials of the Sports Board Punjab were also present at the ceremony.
