Patuki/Habibabad: A severe crisis of clean drinking water has arisen in Habibabad city and the surrounding areas. About 80% of the filter plants established in different parts of the city have been closed for a long time, due to which the people are facing severe difficulties in obtaining clean drinking water. The affected areas include Nai Mandi, Janazgah Road, Karamabad, Tibi and Mastali, where residents are struggling to find clean water. Citizens say that under compulsion, they are having to use substandard and unhealthy water, which has increased the risk of spreading various diseases. Public circles have demanded that these filter plants be immediately reactivated so that the citizens can be provided with their basic need of clean water. Residents have warned that if the concerned authorities do not take timely action, they will be forced to resort to protest. Citizens have appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Local Government Department and other high-ranking officials to take immediate notice so that the residents of Habibabad can be rescued from this serious crisis.
