Lahore: Dubai-based super application ‘Careem’ has announced that it will suspend its ride services in Pakistan from 18 July 2025.
On Wednesday, the company’s co-founder said in a statement on ‘LinkedIn’ that ‘the reason for this decision is the deteriorating economic conditions in the country and fierce competition.’
The company’s co-founder and CEO Mudassar Sheikha said that ‘this decision was extremely difficult to make. Pakistan’s poor economic situation, fierce competition, and global investment priorities made it increasingly difficult to maintain a safe and reliable service here. In recent years, Pakistan’s economic downturn, the depreciation of the rupee, and rising fuel prices have put pressure on the profitability of ride-hailing services.
