Sahiwal: On the instructions of District Police Officer Sahiwal Rana Tahir Rehman Khan, Sahiwal Police has finalized the security plan to ensure peace and order throughout the district and the protection of lives and property of citizens during Muharram 1447 Hijri. According to the security plan decided by Sahiwal Police, more than 800 gatherings and more than 200 processions will be held across the district from 1st to 10th Muharram, which has been divided into A, B and C categories based on sensitivity. Category A includes more than 30 processions and more than 120 gatherings, category B includes more than 90 processions and more than 330 gatherings, while category C includes 88 processions and more than 330 gatherings.
For the security of all these programs, 6 gazetted officers, more than 20 inspectors and SHOs, more than 220 upper sub-ordinates, more than 1160 lower sub-ordinates, more than 90 women police personnel, more than 100 elite force personnel, more than 150 traffic police officers and jawans, and more than 700 volunteers will perform security duties across the district. To make the security measures effective, three-layer security will be provided on the routes of the processions and snipers will be deployed on the roofs of buildings around sensitive places and processions. The routes of the processions will be completely cleared by the Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Branch, while special instructions have been issued to the lady police for special checking of women wearing burqas. The use of body cameras will also be ensured to check the behavior and performance of the officials assigned to check. Parking will not be allowed near the places of meetings and processions and there will be a complete ban on the entry of all types of vehicles without a permit.
To maintain law and order, peace committees have been activated at the police station level, which will play a role in promoting interfaith harmony among all schools of thought. In this regard, special meetings have been held with the organizers and licensees of processions and meetings to ensure effective implementation of the security plan.
The checking system at the entrance and exit points of the district has been further tightened and processions and meetings will be monitored through modern Safe City cameras. For timely monitoring of processions and immediate response to any emergency situation, a special control room has been established in the DPO Office Sahiwal, which will be active 24 hours a day, which will monitor all activities. Along with this, search operations are also underway across the district so that any potential threat can be dealt with in a timely manner.
DPO Sahiwal Rana Tahir Rehman Khan said on this occasion that maintaining public safety, communal harmony and an atmosphere of peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram is the top priority of Sahiwal Police. The public is requested to fully cooperate with the police, immediately report suspicious activities to the police and avoid rumors and believe only information obtained from authentic sources.
