OXFORDSHIRE: Four people have been arrested at an airbase over a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Britain.
British counter-terrorism police have arrested four people in connection with a pro-Palestinian demonstration at an airbase in England last week.
According to a police statement, a 29-year-old woman and two men aged 36 and 24 have been arrested on suspicion of planning, preparing or inciting an act of terrorism, while a 41-year-old woman has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
It should be noted that on June 20, two activists from the ‘Palestine Action Group’ entered the airbase in Oxfordshire, central England, and sprayed red paint on two aircraft used for refueling and delivering goods, and further damaged them with scrapers, Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the act as shameful.
Days after the incident, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper unveiled plans to use anti-terrorism laws to ban Palestine Action, saying the group’s activities had become more aggressive and had caused millions of pounds in losses.
In response to Friday’s arrests, the group accused authorities of trying to suppress peaceful protests to stop arms shipments to Palestine during Israel’s genocide.
Palestine Action has targeted facilities in the UK owned by Israeli defense company Elbit Systems and other British companies linked to Israel since the start of the conflict in Gaza.
