At least 13 people were killed and dozens were injured in various accidents due to heavy rain and strong winds in various cities of Punjab, including the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to rescue officials and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the rain provided some relief from the heat wave, however, normal life was badly affected due to water accumulation in urban areas.

According to Rescue 1122, 46 people were provided emergency services in the last 24 hours, of which 39 were shifted to the hospital, while 7 died. The highest number of accidents were reported in Okara, which was 8, while 4 in Multan, 2 each in Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhang and Chiniot and 1 each in Lahore, Kasur, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Murree, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar and Khanewal.

2 people died in Jhelum and Muzaffargarh, while one person died in Okara, Bahawalnagar and Khanewal.

A 5-year-old girl, Dua Fatima, died when a bamboo roof collapsed in the Basti Riazabad area of ​​Okara, while two people were injured. In Jhelum, a loader rickshaw fell into a drain filled with water on the road, killing two people.

Two people were buried under the rubble after a house wall collapsed in Muzaffargarh, two girls lost their lives after a roof collapsed in Kasur, while a person also fell victim to a similar accident in Bahawalnagar, and two farmers died after being struck by lightning while working in the fields in Khanewal and Toba Tek Singh.

According to the PDMA report, 98 mm of rainfall was recorded in GMA Town of Faisalabad 91 mm in Madina Town, 50 mm in Nishtar Town of Lahore, 24 mm at the airport and 15 mm in other areas.

Kasur recorded 63 mm, Sheikhupura 50 mm, Joharabad 48 mm, Sargodha 45 mm, Chakwal 28 mm, Chiniot 22 mm, Rawalpindi 18 mm, Narowal 17 mm, Attock 12 mm, Gujrat and Mianwali 10 mm, Muzaffargarh and Nurpur Thal 5 mm, Mangla and Sialkot 2 mm, while Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Rawalakot recorded one mm of rainfall.

The heavy rains led to urban flooding in several cities including Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad, while roads and underpasses were submerged, severely affecting traffic flow and causing power outages in several areas.

At least three people died in various accidents due to heavy monsoon rains in the twin cities and surrounding areas on Thursday, while a significant increase in water level was also recorded in the Rawal Dam.

In a tragic incident due to rain, an electric pole fell on a car near the Carriage Factory on IJP Road. The incident took place at around 2:45 pm under the Sabzi Mandi police station limits. According to police, the pole fell possibly due to rain.

The car that came under the pole had five passengers, including two women. The driver of the car, 50-year-old Rashid Niaz, and 12-year-old Muhammad Bin Amir, both from Rawalpindi, died in the accident. The injured women were given immediate medical assistance and were later discharged from the hospital.
