Peshawar: After the Swat tragedy, the ongoing operation against encroachments was stopped when it reached the buildings of influential political figures.
According to sources, the ongoing operation against encroachments at the bypass and Fiza Ghat was stopped when the district administration and related agencies reached the buildings of influential political figures. The illegal encroachments also include the hotels of Federal Minister Amir Muqam and former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sources said that in the initial stages of the operation, dozens of buildings of ordinary citizens were demolished, while several hotels, restaurants and residential buildings were also demolished. However, when the operation reached the buildings owned by influential people, the operation was suddenly stopped.
No official explanation for the suspension of the operation was given by the district administration, but local sources say that the operation has been suspended due to political pressure and influence.
