Sahiwal: To provide complete security to the mourners during Muharram and ensure the provision of all necessary facilities on the procession routes, Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mahmood and DPO Rana Tahir Rehman conducted a detailed tour of the main procession route. DSP Rana Iftikhar Ahmed and Chief Officer Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed were also with them on this occasion. They inspected the entire procession route from Qasr Batool to Deepalpur Bazaar, Pakpattan Bazaar, Saddar Chowk, Liaquat Chowk and Karbala Road on foot and reviewed the arrangements in detail. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood directed that cleanliness should be ensured on all procession routes, security checks should be completed and wherever development works are in progress, they should be completed as soon as possible and the debris should be removed immediately. He also directed the full implementation of SOPs for the security of the mourners, water supply, lighting, cleanliness and other facilities during the procession. CEO Sheikh Ashfaq said that special attention is being paid to the cleanliness of all the main procession routes, Imambargahs and mourning places in the city and additional staff has also been deployed. The Deputy Commissioner also issued instructions to make immediate arrangements for drainage in case of rain, availability of dewatering sets, cleaning of sewer lines and keeping generators on standby in case of power outage.
