Birmingham: Indian Test captain Shubman Gill scored a brilliant double century in the second match of the five-Test series against England and created several records.

On the second day of the second Test in Birmingham, Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 269 runs, which is the first double century of his Test career.

With this innings of 269 runs, he became the highest innings player in Test cricket. Earlier, this honor was held by Virat Kohli, who scored 254 runs in 2019.

25-year-old Shubman Gill has become the first Indian captain to score a double century in England. He also broke the 35-year-old record of Mohammad Azharuddin, who scored 179 runs in Manchester in 1990.

In addition, Shubman Gill also surpassed Sunil Gavaskar’s record of 221 runs scored at The Oval in 1979, thus becoming the highest Test innings scorer by any Indian batsman in England.

India has strengthened their grip on the match after being dismissed for 587 runs in the first innings, while England has scored 77 runs for the loss of 3 wickets by the end of the second day.

It should be noted that hosts England have a one-nil lead in the five-match series.
