Lahore: Pakistan is likely not to participate in the Junior Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in India from November 28.

The International Hockey Federation has divided the teams qualifying for the Junior World Cup into different pools, in which Pakistan and India are in the same pool.

According to sources, PHF officials have been informed about not giving NOC to the national team to participate in the Asia Hockey Cup.

PHF officials have made their team available to the Asian Hockey Federation subject to government permission.

There are also reports that along with hockey, no other team will be issued NOC for the event to be held on Indian soil.

Some hockey Olympians from Pakistan have also demanded that the Junior World Cup be shifted to a neutral location along with the Asia Cup.

It should be remembered that earlier, Pakistan had decided not to send a hockey team to India for the Asia Cup, considering security concerns.

Pakistan has always placed sports above domestic politics, but India has made sports a political issue and made it controversial.

Indian media is spewing venom against Pakistan. Extremist organizations are openly threatening the Pakistan hockey team through various social media accounts.

According to sources, the players cannot be sent considering the current situation, the strained relations and the security concerns facing the team.
