World University Games; Pakistani team wears traditional attire at the opening ceremony in Germany

Why was the team’s departure kept secret after getting NOC from the Pakistan Sports Board?

Berlin: The World University Games festival has been held in Germany, and the Pakistani team also attended the opening ceremony in traditional attire.

9,020 athletes aged 17 to 25 from universities in 150 countries are participating in these games, which are being held in the Rhine-Ruhr near Berlin. These games are also called Mini Olympics.

Along with 24 athletes, officials from 12 different universities are also representing Pakistan in the Mini Olympics. Pakistani athletes will participate in six sports: athletics, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming, and archery.

According to Nawa-e-Waqt/Dawn sources, the Pakistani players were not accompanied by coaches; the university’s sports director will act as their manager and coach.

The departure of the squad was kept secret after the Pakistan Sports Board received the NOC.
