Islamabad: Due to the government’s major incompetence, every year, 15,000 Pakistani students leave the country and go to the UK for permanent residence
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis says that 1.8 million Pakistanis are living in the UK, and last year, Britain issued visas to 1.1 million Pakistanis.

A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis was held under the chairmanship of Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, in which officials of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis said that currently 1.8 million Pakistanis are living in the UK, and according to 2024 data, 1.1 million Pakistanis were issued visas by Britain.

The officials further said that every year 13 to 15 thousand Pakistani students go to the UK for permanent residence, Pakistani students prefer to settle in the UK instead of returning to the country.

The meeting was told that these students are willing to work even for minimum wage and become part of the UK labour market.

Officials from the Pakistani Ministry of Maritime Affairs said that Pakistani citizens are facing difficulties due to lack of English proficiency.
