Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court on Sunday nominated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to administer the oath to the members elected to 25 specific seats of the provincial assembly.

On the other hand, the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, adjourned the meeting today due to a breakdown in the quorum, which prevented the oath-taking from being conducted and raised concerns that the Senate election might be postponed for tomorrow (Monday).

The members elected to the specific seats had submitted a petition in the Peshawar High Court last week asking the court to nominate someone to administer their oath.

A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court heard the petition on Sunday, where the petitioners’ lawyer Aamir Javed pleaded that the High Court had ordered the oath-taking of members coming to reserved seats last year, but it has not been implemented yet.

After which the High Court nominated the Governor to administer the oath-taking of members coming to reserved seats. According to the court order, the members should be administered the oath as soon as possible in accordance with the constitutional requirements.
