A petition against Jamshed Dasti’s disqualification was heard in the Lahore High Court, a 3-member full bench headed by the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court heard the matter.
During the hearing, the Lahore High Court suspended the by-election schedule in NA-175. The court issued notices to the Election Commission, Attorney General, and others.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Aali Neelam asked that the lawyer tell me when you signed the power of attorney, tell the truth, the story is very interesting.
Lawyer Jamshed Dasti said that I signed the power of attorney late, the Chief Justice said that I have read the entire application and the decision of the Election Commission.
Lawyer Ishtiaq Chaudhry took the position that a reference was received by the Election Commission on which a notice was issued, and the Supreme Court has decided that the Election Commission cannot disqualify anyone without any judicial declaration.
Lawyer Ishtiaq Chaudhry said that in the present case, the Election Commission disqualified the petitioner without any judicial declaration.
Talking to the media outside the court, Jamshed Dasti said that Allah Almighty has honored me, the biggest mistake is that I stand with Imran Khan, the situation is very difficult for us, the Election Commission has wronged me.
He said that I have full hope in the courts that they will do justice, even today the courts have given us justice, I have been elected as a member of the National Assembly five times, there is no truth in the claim against me, the Speaker should have called me and heard me, I was neither called nor heard, only false propaganda was spread against me on social media.
