In this regard, the National Assembly Secretariat is hesitant about whether to pay the old salaries to the reinstated members or not. The National Assembly Secretariat has sought the opinion of the Finance Department. A decision is expected during the current session after the approval of the Speaker.
Since January 2025, the salary of MNAs has increased to 730,000. In case of approval, each MNA is likely to receive Rs 71 lakh in arrears. A total of Rs 127.8 million is required for payments to 18 MNAs.
It should be noted that 18 members were suspended on the decision of the Supreme Court on May 13, 2024. On July 2, 2025, the Supreme Court reinstated all the members. Those reinstated include 15 women and 3 minority members.
