Karachi: Pakistan has issued a ferry service license for Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to an international ferry operator, Sea Keepers, for the first time.
Sea Keepers Private Limited provides innovative, sustainable and effective marine engineering, design and supply chain solutions and its global network consists of offices in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and China.
With the permission of the Government of Pakistan, the company can now start passenger ferry services on sea routes connecting Pakistan with Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
According to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Monday, the decision is a major development in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
According to the government, the new ferry service is expected to benefit millions of passengers every year, especially pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq, while it can also be a convenient and efficient facility for workers and tourists going to Gulf countries.
