Karachi: Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) has rejected the government’s ban on going by land for pilgrimage and announced to leave for Ramzan border with pilgrims.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Chairman MWM Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that going to the Karbala pilgrimage is part of our faith, we will not back down even a step from our religious duty.
He said that there is complete data of pilgrims going to Iraq and Iran, the government had held a meeting in Iran to provide facilities to pilgrims and indicated that provide facilities to pilgrims.
Chairman MWM said that the ban on pilgrims traveling by land is causing a loss of billions of rupees; the government benefits economically from pilgrims going on pilgrimages.
He said that the government is charging a heavy tax on air travel.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that we reject all kinds of obstacles and restrictions on pilgrimages, and will leave for the Ramadan border with the pilgrims.
He said that our protest is not for political interests but for the protection of religious and constitutional rights.
Chairman Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen said that if the government is serious about solving the problems, then we are ready for talks.
On July 27, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had said in his message on X that pilgrims will not be allowed to travel to Iran and Iraq by road this year; however, pilgrims will be able to travel by air.
