Lahore: The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court, while delivering a reserved verdict in two cases of May 9, acquitted PTI leader Shah Mehmood while sentencing Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry to 10 years in prison and Alia Hamza and Sanam Javed to 5 years in prison.
Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Manzar Ali Gul delivered a reserved verdict in two cases of burning down the Shadman Police Station and Rahat Bakery.
In the verdict, the court acquitted Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cases of burning the Shadman police station and burning police vehicles.
The court sentenced former Punjab Governor Sarfaraz Cheema, provincial ministers Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mahmood Rashid and Ijaz Chaudhry to 10 years in prison each.
In addition to them, the court sentenced PTI leaders Alia Hamza and Sanam Javed to 5 years in prison each.
The court acquitted 12 accused in the Shadman police station arson case while convicting 13 accused. Those acquitted include Salman Ahmed, Abdul Qadir, Faizan, Tayyab Sultan, Shahid Baig, Majid Ali, Bakht Lai, Sohail Khan, Owais, Rafiuddin, Farid Khan.
The court acquitted 10 accused and convicted 7 accused in the Rahat Bakery arson case.
The court sentenced Hafiz Arshad, the guard of the founder of PTI, to 10 years in prison, and 10 accused were acquitted in the case of burning police vehicles outside a bakery.
The court sentenced Ayesha Bhatta to 10 years in prison, acquitted 5 minor accused, and fined Alia Hamza and Sanam Javed Rs 100,000 each.
On Thursday, the anti-terrorism court reserved the verdict in both cases. 45 accused were tried in the case, of whom 25 were arrested, while 15 are absconding and one accused has died.
